Terms of Service

1. Acceptance

These Terms of Service (“Terms”) govern your access to and use of HandtextAI, including the website, web editor, account pages, subscriptions, support forms, document import, handwriting generation, downloads, and related online features at handtextai.com (together, the “Service”).

By using the Service, creating an account, starting a subscription, or clicking to accept these Terms, you agree to these Terms and our Privacy Policy. If you do not agree, do not use the Service.

2. The Service

HandtextAI helps users turn typed or formatted content into handwritten-style pages. Depending on your plan and feature access, the Service may include:

• text, formatting, tables, images, math, and document editing tools;
• handwriting fonts, paper styles, scene backgrounds, and realism controls;
• preview generation, full-size generation, and page downloads;
• PDF, JPEG, PNG, or ZIP export options where supported by your plan;
• saved documents, document versions, embedded image assets, and document loading;
• document import from supported PDF, DOCX, PPTX, and image files;
• custom font upload and optional AI writing features on eligible plans.

Some features are free, some require sign-in, and some require a paid plan. Feature availability, page limits, file limits, credit amounts, export formats, and quality settings may vary by plan and may change over time.

3. Eligibility

You must be at least 13 years old to use the Service. If you use the Service on behalf of an organization, you represent that you have authority to bind that organization to these Terms.

4. Accounts

You may sign in with email or supported third-party sign-in providers. You agree to provide accurate account information, keep control of your sign-in method, and notify us if you believe your account has been compromised.

You are responsible for activity under your account. Do not share paid access, credits, saved documents, or account controls with anyone who is not authorized to use your account. We may reject disposable email addresses for new signups and may apply rate limits to sign-in links, previews, support forms, and other features.

5. Plans, Credits, and Billing

5.1 Free and paid plans

The Service may offer a free plan and paid subscription plans. Paid plans may include monthly or annual billing, page credits, export limits, saved documents, import tools, image insertion, custom fonts, AI writing credits, and other plan-specific features. Current plan details are shown on the pricing and checkout screens.

We do not promise that any feature, plan name, credit amount, limit, or price will stay available indefinitely. Changes apply prospectively unless the checkout or account page says otherwise.

5.2 Credits and usage limits

Credits, feature limits, page limits, file-size limits, and rate limits are usage controls for the Service. Credits have no cash value, are not transferable, and may expire or reset according to the plan period shown in the Service. Unused credits do not roll over unless we expressly state otherwise in writing.

We may refuse, throttle, cancel, or reverse generation work when abuse, technical failure, credit processing problems, unsupported content, or service-protection limits require it. A failed, interrupted, or unsatisfactory generation does not create a right to a cash refund.

5.3 Payments

Payments are processed by Stripe. By starting a paid plan, you authorize Stripe and HandtextAI to charge the payment method you provide for subscription fees, taxes, and other amounts disclosed at checkout. Subscriptions renew automatically unless cancelled before the renewal date.

You are responsible for any taxes, currency conversion costs, bank fees, card fees, or payment-provider fees that apply to your purchase. Prices may be displayed before tax, and the final amount may depend on the billing information you provide to Stripe.

5.4 Upgrades, downgrades, and cancellation

Plan changes are handled through the Service or the Stripe billing portal. Upgrades may take effect immediately and may involve prorated charges or credits shown before confirmation. Downgrades and cancellations may take effect at the end of the current billing period. After cancellation, you may keep paid access until the end of the paid period unless your account is deleted, suspended, or otherwise restricted under these Terms.

Cancellation stops future renewals only. It does not undo charges that already occurred and does not convert unused time, unused credits, or unused features into a refund or cash balance.

5.5 Failed payments

If a payment fails, we may retry the charge, notify you, suspend paid features, or end paid access. You remain responsible for charges incurred before cancellation or termination, including renewal charges that were due before your cancellation took effect.

5.6 Trials and promotional access

Unless a checkout page clearly says otherwise, paid subscriptions do not include a free trial. Free credits, promotional credits, manual access, legacy access, discounts, and other promotional benefits are discretionary, have no cash value, may be changed or revoked, and do not create a right to a refund.

6. No Refund Policy

All purchases are final and non-refundable. HandtextAI does not provide refunds, credits, partial refunds, prorated refunds, or cash equivalents unless required by applicable law or expressly approved by HandtextAI in writing.

We do not provide refunds or credits for:

• partial subscription periods;
• unused subscription time;
• unused page credits, AI writing credits, or promotional credits;
• unused features, export limits, storage, or plan benefits;
• accidental purchases, forgotten cancellations, or missed renewal dates;
• dissatisfaction with generated output, import results, AI writing output, font appearance, paper styles, export quality, or feature behavior;
• loss of access caused by violation of these Terms, account deletion, chargebacks, failed payments, or misuse;
• incompatibility with your printer, browser, device, file, school, workplace, or third-party requirements.

You can evaluate the Service with available free features before purchasing a paid subscription. Starting a paid subscription means you accept this no-refund policy.

If you believe a charge was made in error, contact us promptly. Reviewing a billing issue does not waive this no-refund policy and does not guarantee a refund.

7. Your Content

“User Content” means content you submit, upload, import, save, generate, edit, or export through the Service, including text, formatting, images, documents, fonts, prompts, settings, and generated pages.

You retain the rights you have in your User Content. You grant HandtextAI a worldwide, non-exclusive, royalty-free license to host, copy, process, transmit, display, store, modify, and create generated output from your User Content only as needed to provide, secure, maintain, improve, and support the Service and enforce these Terms.

You are responsible for your User Content and for making sure you have the rights and permissions needed to upload, process, and use it. Do not upload content you are not allowed to use, content that violates another person's rights, or sensitive content unless you are comfortable processing it through an online service.

Optional AI writing and document import features may produce incomplete, inaccurate, or unsuitable output. You are responsible for reviewing, editing, and verifying output before relying on it or sharing it.

You are responsible for keeping independent copies of important User Content and generated output. The Service is not a permanent archive, backup service, records management system, or guaranteed file-hosting service.

8. Acceptable Use

You agree not to:

• use the Service for unlawful, harmful, abusive, harassing, or rights-infringing activity;
• mislead others about identity, authorship, permission, or origin where doing so would violate law, contract, school policy, workplace policy, or another person's rights;
• upload malware, malicious files, or content intended to disrupt systems or access data without permission;
• attempt to bypass authentication, payment, feature limits, credit checks, storage limits, rate limits, or security controls;
• scrape, overload, stress-test, crawl, or automate the Service in a way that harms reliability or exceeds ordinary personal use;
• reverse engineer, copy, resell, sublicense, or create a competing service from the Service, except where law gives you a non-waivable right to do so;
• remove watermarks, notices, or access controls except where the Service gives you that option;
• share, sell, rent, or transfer your account, subscription, or credits without our written permission.
• submit or upload highly sensitive personal information unless you have decided that processing it through the Service is appropriate and lawful.

We may investigate suspected violations and may limit, suspend, or terminate access when needed to protect users, HandtextAI, service providers, or the Service.

9. Ownership

HandtextAI and its licensors own the Service, including software, workflows, designs, built-in fonts, paper assets, scene assets, user interface elements, documentation, branding, and related intellectual property. These Terms do not transfer ownership of the Service to you.

Subject to your compliance with these Terms, you may use generated output for your personal, educational, or business purposes. You may not extract, redistribute, resell, or separately use the underlying HandtextAI fonts, paper assets, scene assets, software, or templates except as part of generated output created through the Service.

10. Availability and Changes

We may add, remove, suspend, or modify features, plans, limits, pricing, providers, and availability. We may perform maintenance or experience outages. We are not responsible for data loss caused by your browser settings, device issues, expired sessions, deleted accounts, unsupported files, or use of the Service outside documented limits.

We may update these Terms from time to time. If changes are material, we may provide notice through the website, email, or other reasonable means. Your continued use of the Service after updated Terms take effect means you accept the updated Terms.

11. Termination

You may stop using the Service at any time. Account deletion permanently removes your account and associated app data from active systems, cancels active subscriptions, and forfeits remaining credits and paid benefits, subject to records we may retain as described in the Privacy Policy.

We may suspend or terminate your access if you violate these Terms, create risk for the Service or others, fail to pay amounts owed, or use the Service in a way that may cause legal, security, operational, or reputational harm.

Sections that by their nature should survive termination will survive, including ownership, payment obligations, disclaimers, limitation of liability, governing law, and any provisions needed to interpret or enforce these Terms.

12. Disclaimers

The Service and all output are provided “as is” and “as available.” To the maximum extent permitted by law, HandtextAI disclaims all warranties, whether express, implied, statutory, or otherwise, including warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, title, non-infringement, availability, accuracy, and uninterrupted or error-free operation.

We do not guarantee that output will meet your requirements, be accepted by any third party, be free from visual artifacts, preserve every import detail, or be suitable for any particular use. You are responsible for checking the output before printing, submitting, publishing, or relying on it.

Handwritten-style output is a visual simulation. We do not guarantee that any person, institution, scanner, printer, or review process will interpret or accept the output in a particular way.

13. Limitation of Liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, HandtextAI will not be liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential, exemplary, or punitive damages, or for lost profits, lost revenue, lost data, loss of goodwill, business interruption, or cost of substitute services.

To the maximum extent permitted by law, HandtextAI's total liability for all claims arising out of or relating to the Service or these Terms will not exceed the greater of the amount you paid to HandtextAI for the Service in the three months before the event giving rise to the claim or 100 USD.

14. Governing Law

These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of Delaware, United States, without regard to conflict of law principles. Any dispute arising from these Terms or the Service will be resolved in the state or federal courts located in Delaware, unless applicable law requires another forum.
